Eligibility and commitment


Young Scientist

You can apply for CONNECT if

  • You are a PhD student or postdoc at one of the participating institutions (ETH domain, UZH and participating NCCRs), with a contract until at least December 2024.

  • You are planning to continue your career outside academia, and are thus eager to meet role models from industry and the public sector as well as peers from other institutions.

Participation fee

Your commitment

  • You commit to participating in the entire program.

  • The participation fee is CHF 400.-, including workshops, related materials, and company visits.

  • Travel to each site has to be organized and expenses covered by each participant.

As CONNECT is an education program, it is possible to cover participation fee by your group/lab.

Timeline

  • early May 2024: Application window opens

  • late May 2024: Information event

  • mid-June 2024: Application window closes

  • Selection process: A neutral committee reviews all applications of the respective institution. Evaluation criteria are mainly motivation, expectations and interest in the program

  • mid-July: Participants are informed about results of selection process

  • Sept 2024: Start of CONNECT Round 6

  • Mar 2025: End of CONNECT Round 6

  • To apply, you fill in an online form (link will appear here as the application window opens) where we collect information on your degree and research topic, current position, institution, language skills, and personal information.

  • In addition, you upload your CV (max. 2 pages) and motivation letter (max. 1 page), in which you describe your career plan and current career situation, and how CONNECT will help you develop a successful career outside academia.
